DonRiver Ciena's Newest Acquisition
Software is surging these days, as networks move in a more intelligent, adaptive direction the landscape is at no loss for action. With network operators facing mounting demands, a new generation of adaptive, intent-based networking solutions await those seeking to take the plunge.
Ciena recently announced its intention of acquiring global software and services company, DonRiver. The purchase puts the DonRiver portfolio of federated network and service inventory management solutions in Ciena’s Blue Planet family of offerings.
With the DonRiver addition, Ciena’s Blue Planet can push beyond delivering network orchestration and control. Network operators can now see a unified inventory across operations, in addition access to DonRiver’s experts in specialized OSS software, integration and consulting experts.
The pairing enables enhanced management of modernization initiatives, creating a comprehensive digital transformation portfolio.
“The combination of Blue Planet and DonRiver will enhance our ability to deliver closed loop automation of network services and the underlying operational processes across IT/operations and the network,” said Rick Hamilton, senior vice president of Global Software and Services at Ciena. “With this new set of technology and expertise, we can help customers realize the full benefits of network automation by helping them move away from highly complex and fragmented OSS environments to those that accurately reflect the real-time state and utilization of network resources.”
The network is nothing to take for granted, especially in this intelligent networking age. This Saasy, video heavy, bandwidth hungry era is upping the ante for operators and Ciena seeks to support it.
